We took a drive into Atherton today for some food items as we had not been shopping over a week now, not that we needed much as since being on the road we seem to eat less, the town is only about 6km from us here and is as all country towns has wide main streets with parking everywhere, it must be a modern town because it does have a golden arch food shop and a K.F.C. as well. I did notice the Bunnings in town it the best shop.
As it was Sunday a lot of shops were closed and we headed into the Woolworths at northern end of town and it was busy for what I thought, being a Sunday but had everything we required and did notice they sell cooked roast. Pork and Beef hot of course next to the chickens, maybe I am not a great shopper but first time I have seen that in any larger shop. There is a gem stone shop in town which we will check out over the next few weeks and will do the walk-through town, much better than a drive by at least we can say we visited the place as a drive by is not a visit, you need to feel what a town must offer and walking will give you that.
We have got all the info sheets for the whole of this area and there are some waterfalls to visit along with dairy and chocolate factory's, plus many other things which we will post as we explore this area, we are here for over 8 weeks it seems and may need all that time. We have offers for other places to sit but we will see how we go and if we are staying or moving onto other areas, we try not to plan as it puts you on the clock and we don’t need that.
It has rained for most of the time we have been here only yesterday did we get a few hours of blue skies, and it rained all last night and still is this morning. It really doesn’t bother us we are well prepared for rain and it's a lot cooler up here than I thought it would be too.
We are all good for fruit here as the hosts run an Avocado farm with some of the biggest ones I have seen and we are overrun with Bananas and oranges, lemonade, Mandarin oranges grapefruit etc. all grow here around the house. Plus, we noticed yesterday peanuts are grown here too along with much more stuff which has made its way into our van somehow, maybe the hosts think we need more fruit in out week.
I am in a way looking forward to mowing this place if it ever stops raining with the ride on and headphones and music banging in my head, I have not had to mow much since Dec last year only a little whipper work in Rocky.
As I sit here this morning and look across the dark green grass I spot in between some rocks on the edge of the rain forest is a flying kangaroo, it is only little but I can see him watching me it blends into the rocks and background I saw his/her pink little ears flick otherwise would be near impossible to see,
The wild life and birds here are so beautiful hearing all their whistles and noises it is a lot better than traffic noise that was part of our life in the big smoke.
It is a place to visit and sit back and watch the world go by…….
We arrived Saturday and have posted some photos for you the look at and hopefully if no rain holds out will later get some video from the drone, but for now we need to go to town for supplies, not been food shopping for a while.
Below is the house and a few photos taken today will be more and of the area as we visit in a few days

As weather was a little clear for a while, so you see around where we are.
Most of the above photos were taken at the NeradaTea Factory here on the Tablelands, a few were taken at the house sit we are at.
The Platypus Photos are taken at the Platypus park and we were able to see them swim about for over 40min and came up so close well worth the $8.50 each to see.
For further info about park see HERE.
