WEEK 96, FROM THE GREEN TO THE WHITE..
The News.

As you see our map is getting filled in now and its taken us since Feb. to get this far and we have seen a lot and have missed out on some things as well. we are not looking for the tourist spots as after a while they become the same and can cost a bit to see. So we look for the unknown or things we feel are worth the trouble. and a lot of that comes from the house owners we sit for who are always giving us lists of places to visit along the way. So this week has been wet again and its been cool as well and well not good weather but you take that as part of the experience and work around it. We just sit back and wait till it gets better , don't complain about it as its just part of travelling and it will get better I am sure even if they say rain by Monday or so we shall see.

As you can see the Tulips are starting to appear and wont be long before we have rolls of flowers around the place, the rain and some sunshine we get will bring then along quickly I guess. We have a market happening down the road on Saturday and will check it out as the locals know we are here but really not sure who or what we are yet. Ellen has started working non paid at local shop were people get cheap clothes furniture its good for her to mix with others while we are here.
So from Monday they are saying we should see some snow around here and it is getting colder everyday of late so the locals could be right

And this week would like to Welcome the Members of the Mailing List, hope you enjoy my ramblings each week, it sometimes as when it rains it gets hard to fill the pages but I try to make as interesting as possible for you.
Travelling This Week.
Well Sunday we headed out the explore a few places and we were lucky n that weather was overcast and cool but not what has greeted us from Monday till now, which has been rain and windy day days.
So as we moved along we travelled along the coast line with the ocean on our right and the water line was so rocky with a little sand between the rocks but it is still a great place just for the drive. We missed the markets in Penguin, but are returning this Sunday to check them out as they are undercover so even if rains will be on
|
As went along we passed by small little villages and beach places as we moved along, they are alloy of beach houses and holiday homes, but
We stopped next at Doctors Rocks which is an outcrop of rocks which stand alone on the coast and you find people panning for gold and rare minerals here, more on Table Cape Lighthouse, page, its a great part of the area and of course the old train line is close to the water and follows the coast line along, and I don't think its been used for sometime.
|
As we moved further west we saw a sign to a place with a lighthouse to visit and we headed though some stunning farm country high above the water
The landscape along the road is well worth the effort to just take the drive and we ended up at the Table Cape Lighthouse.
Our day was getting away from us so after a visit to the lighthouse which you can see more photos of by following the link above, we headed up towards the township of Stanley. You can see the rock outcrop miles away from the township and as you get closer and you make that right hand turn towards the town the ground just gets so green and the land must be a farmers friend here with cattle, sheep roaming about everywhere. We only had a short visit and it was more of a check out and run as we left too late and had stopped at places along the way, we will return and give it the attention it needs later, but we got some great shots from around town for you to enjoy. |
There are so much to see and we just did have the time this trip but are returning soon
So Saturday we decided to head back up to Cradle Mountain and see what its like now as it has been cold here and we had heard some snow had been coming down and as we are only some 40 min away was no big deal to get there and we were surprised to see so much snow and its so early in season So the new Photos are here Cradle Mountain Part 2 |
We got cold as we were really not well prepared for the cold and we will not get caught again, we have the gear just did not expect it to be snowing or cold so we did not walk about too much rather sit in car with heater on and watch, will be ready next time we go up there and it will be soon. Got to remember that we are Queenslanders and this cold is way so cold for us and were freezing when the wind was blasting us.
And on our way back to the house we called in on one of the many Hydro Dams and had a look about and more photos of
Lake Cethana and the area around the dam, it was wet and overcast so some of the photos are foggy like to weather

The Update Section
Thought it would be time to update how this setup is going we have been using it since November last year and have had a few things happen along the way. It works a treat, but it does when on really rough roads tend to slip along and loosen the chains and then you notice a bit of a difference.
I have tried different ways to stop that but it does move, so have to adjust it by taking out one link in chain and move it forward, so know it is hard up against the cross member that the jockey wheel hooks too.
That has now stopped that forward movement and it is working much better now.
Just before we left Melbourne it began to make some really loud screaming noise and was not sounding good at all and got hold of the dealer who sent me some oil to put on the sleeve, just a few drops and left it for 2 weeks and when we moved again only got a little noise for about 20 min till it had gone back to beginning silent again

Internet Movies And TV.
Been asked about local TV and how you go when its not around, Well we have two other ways of having some entertainment to us. One is the Sat dish goes up and we can watch the local and other states TV without too much trouble.
But if you have a lot of Wi fi, which is getting cheaper you can use a Chromecast device or Telstra TV. from which you can get Netflix, Stan, Foxtel Now etc. So you can now watch all the Movies and shows you want and if you have a unlimited plan that are about now will never be with entertainment during those wet and stormy days and nights.
