WEEK 110, THE WET KEEPS COMING...

We have about 7 weeks left in Tasmania before we jump on the boat back to Melbourne and onto new things, and up to a few days ago was not sure what that would be and as it turns out we have a big new adventure ahead and I will be flying over to Melbourne and checking it out next week and I will get some shots and we give you all more details after that, it has taken a while to get it all together and the fact that the people are going to wait for us to get there is something great as most would want people straight away and its a thing I have always wanted to do as part of our travels as you just need something like this to fill in days and hopefully a great training for us.
This will slow us down for a little while but because we are in the middle of Victoria our travel will not stop and I will keep up the blog as it goes and more than ever before we shall be able to see others who are travelling the country.
Ok, back to this week I have got out and mowed the house yard where we are this week it took two days between the rain, it is a big yard, some can only be done with a push mower and the greater part on the tractor, so by my maths I have at least two more times to go before we leave being in three weeks and the final time just before the owners return.

As you see the large photo above shows what a few days can be here in Tasmania, we visited Waratah early in week when it was raining and again a few days later and the difference can be great as you see.
We only went out this day because I saw that the cradle Mountains area had soon snow about and the weather reported snow to 400mt. and of course its less than an hour.
We had only just left Ridgley and headed west and as we climbed u to 450 Mt. the snow was getting heavier and heavier and as we reached Waratah at 500 Mt. Plus we turned off and got a big surprise to see the whole town covered in white stuff and still snowing

All morning the snow just keep coming and it got much more as we turned up into the highway towards Cradle Mountain and at one point we were behind the snow plough and it soon by throwing up the snow, blocked our windscreen with ice and I had to slow due to not seeing the road ahead and back away from him.
We did come across our Wombat friend just walking down the road without a care in the world and was not worried about us or the cars, in fact Ellen got out and walked with him down the road till he could get off and be safe and as you see in later Photos he let her get close and have a pat and scratch

This little one was enjoying pushing the snow out the way eating the grass till he spotted my shoes and it was on and he came after them with me backing up and clearing his path and he got in close till I could step away and with that game over and back to getting food. But was great, as we had been up here about 4 times and only ever just seen them disappear into the bush and we had them running around this time for over an hour and there were about 5 all told.
I just went down the road from our house sit and got a few more shots of the falls they are running a bit slower then last time but the water is a lot cleaner and with a bit of sunlight they are looking great. It just goes to show you that you really don't have to travel a long way to see the beauty of Tasmania |
So this afternoon we headed for a drive down to Devonport to shop and also to checkout the boarding area for us to return back to the mainland, unlike in Melbourne there is plenty of room for parking the van before boarding the boat. The drive from where we are to the dock area Is about 50 minute drive so as we leave on a Friday and with really no traffic to worry about all is good and as we arrive in Melbourne very early traffic should not be an issue and we are only going about an hour east we should clear the main roads very quickly all planned.
So below is a few photos from where we leave and further down is the entrance of the river we go out straight into the sea north to Melbourne, a couple of photos are of the beach from the east side of Devonport looking to sea.
