WEEK 106, JUST MOVIN ALONG...
So after near 9 weeks parked up on the rock called Mt. Roland, we got up Saturday morning after it rained so heavy over night wondering if we were to move in the rain, but the sky was clear and the weather was mild not too cold.
So we hooked up the van said fare well to the owners and cats a slowly headed down the hill and off to a new place.
We so enjoyed our stop around Sheffield, but we are doing this to explore and met others and so we move on.
So as part of this move it puts us in a good spot to visit the West coast of Tasmania now and you will see over coming weeks our visits down that way. With the snow down that way it could interesting few months ahead.

We booked into the Big 4 in Ulverstone and it was very empty when we got there over the last week we have seen people come and go and most were Queenslanders, in a way was good to get back in van and just settle down and have a break before heading off this Sunday to our next house sit.
The first couple days here were overcast and wet with some wind but the weather changed by Wednesday and we had clear blue skies without any wind and just a hint of warm weather.

During this week it has given us time to put the van right as you really don't realise how much you move stuff around and take out and use in the house sits. So takes time to get yourself back into a orderly place and know where stuff is
It also gave me a chance to wash the car and it looks clean again and the way it should do.

So during the first day or so went for a stroll down along the beach here which is only a few hundred yards from the park and a you see it does have sand along most of it but with lots of stones which is a common thing here, and there was no body about which is what we have found in most places we visit

we went into town and it has all the shops you require and with Devonport just some 20 min away you have a good spot to either stay after you arrive from Melbourne on the ferry or stop and wait to board to leave, which I guess we will do when that time comes. And of course you cant miss this tower in the middle of the round about close to centre of town and it rings a bell every half hour which you can hear from the van park where we are staying

On Wednesday we went out for lunch with John and Mary, if you read the story in last weeks Blog would remember him, well he is getting better slowly and will be taking it slow for a while yet and is returning home next week but is well on the way to get better now. So we had lunch in a little town about 20 min from us in a place called Forth, its very small and the pub is old and does need some work, but the service and fire place were great. The meals are huge and they don't take long to get to you which is always good and if you are in the area well worth the time
So we drove about one afternoon and headed along the beach road which heads up towards Penguin, its a winding road with some stunning views of the water and as you get closer to the town of Penguin the people have planted flower and have garden along the beach side of the road which ae in flower at this time which adds to the beauty of the place. And the old train line is very close to the water and would be a good trip in a carriage to travel along. |
We also visited the local museum here and its only open from 1.30pm to 4pm so its not open for long but its only very small and does have some good things to see but not a place that I would rush to.
And to finish off this weeks adventure, I returned to the torture centre and had a couple of fillings and a bit of a clean with the jack hammer and really enjoyed the pain free approach, yep and the small talk while I had a mouth full of gear and it was only an hour which felt like half a day and what makes it great is that it takes about a day or so to get your head back to normal and to be able to close your mouth again after being told to open a little wider, it feels like they are trying to build a tunnel with stuff they jam in your mouth.
Every time I have gone of late and they point at the chair which is hard enough to get into then they hand you a pair of dark glasses which by the way are covered in finger prints and you really cant see anything and then they do that thing, push a button and the chair winds backwards and they walk away as you slowly get laid flat but this one seems to keeps going and I wait to slide off and end up on the floor backwards with thoughts of mission control we are ready for lift off, but it stops just before that as I am trying to stop the slide, and I just cant see them smiling at my discomfort because the glasses are so dirty
Well see you all next Week, I hope......
