WEEK 103, JUST CHILLIN OUT...
Big week of driving this week, with having to go to Launceston Saturday to pick up Ellen and only to be up very early Sunday to be at Airport again by 9am in the rain. So you will read the travels below and we tried to show our friends a good coverage of the area and Tasmania that we can, in the time they are here.
The weather was not kind on the Sunday, but others days had sunshine and only really got cold and rain later on in the day which was ok. Had car issues as you will read further down the page, and is been as cold as we want this week, but its been good and we have revisited a few places but it has changed so much in the few months as when we saw it the trees ere green and just going into autumn colours.
The rivers are up in all places we have visited due to the rain and its a treat when you drive into small villages that are down in a valley covered with smoke due to all having their fires going.
We have only about 2 weeks here in this house sit and remember if you like the photos I have about the place, you too can visit and stay here as well as it is a Air BnB place and once they get settled after being away for a while will be inviting guests again and I have put a link HERE and HERE

Things that go wrong, we visited Cradle Mountain again and this time because its a very windy road and steep down hills and up I noticed that I was hearing dragging noises coming from the brakes every now and again but when got back on normal roads it stopped, so believed a small stone or rock may had got in some where, but we have a big drive down towards Hobart yesterday and it came back and got worse so off the friendly mechanics here in Sheffield, checked it out and found a calliper on rear left was the problem, its now in their workshop parts are coming from Launceston and should have it back from them before lunch today, such great, so new rear pads and callipers so great, service and just a willing to help us and they even gave us a car without even asking, so below are their details if you need help if in this area.

This week, we have visitors and we left the house just before 7am and headed down to pick them up as they were to fly in at 9am, it was raining so hard and just looked like it was not going to stop, we got their about 20 min before they arrived and the plane was early and all seemed the be going well then the baggage did not arrive and some 50 min later they announce that it is stack on plane and will ne 2 hours before it can get out, not to worry we headed over to the bakery at Longford and showed them about till we got the call, and headed back to airport and picked up the bags.
We dropped by Deloraine, and showed then what was coming and they would see then took them back to the house via the road though Mole Creek and onto Paradise and out to Mt Roland and it was raining and the clouds were so low you could not get a good idea about the views and it was clod as well.
So we got to house as the weather lifted a bit and they had a look about the yard and gardens Please remember if you wish to come and stay here they welcome people to stay at the house as it is a Air BNB Sheffield BNB , Whether you come winter or Summer they will welcome you |
So the next day we headed up and visited the lighthouse and drove around town and as it was still raining we headed back to
Sheffield, and walked the streets and checked out the shops and meet the people of the town, checked out the Murals and just headed back the house so they could have a rest and get ready for the days ahead.

So next day we decided to head up to the Cradle Mountain, not sure if there was going to be snow or not but it was still worth the trip as it stunning and as it was still overcast and rain, but we still had a good time checking out the views and animals about,
The road up to the mountain is windy affair and with the rain slow as the road was wet and had to be careful
So up to Cradle mountain, but not much in the way of snow that day and had a good look about of course took the drive up to the lakes and had a small snow fall but it was so clod and foggy and headed back to the rangers station and even if there was a little misty rain we strolled down and took the Enchanted Walk which is one of the many walks about the park which and each has a theme about it, as you will see below in the 33 photos, with the misty rain and cold it was a 2 hours, of light walking.

Above is a slide show of some of the photos taken within Cradle Mountain at the Enchanting Forest Walk.
As the days come and go we headed south down to see some of the convict areas and gave them a good idea of what life were and we visited, so we visited Campbell Town , then keep going south to Ross, stopped at the bakery and got a few slices for afternoon tea.
|
After that we moved down to Oatlands, and walked about town and most shops etc. including the pancake shop were closed due to winter and the girls saw a TV series, being made which was called, Rosehaven. So after lunch we started our trip back to the house and started to notice the brakes were making a noise and go back to Sheffield and the garage had a look and ordered parts and I took the car down on Thursday to get fixed.

So Fridays trip in a run out to Stanley, and on the way will call into Penguin, the countryside has really gone green since last time and we thought the day would be spoilt by a low coming in to the west coast but we were lucky it was a little grey but did not rain at all.
The coast line has been hit hard in recent weeks with the high seas and the wind did knock a few trees over.

We were lucky that we visited Table Cape Lighthouse, as the flowers were just starting to bloom up and as the season warms up the whole area will be one large colour as they put the colours in different rows as you see below

From the flowers here, we kept going west out to Stanley, I have added some more photos to each page here and updated them so a visit will see new ones.
As part of out visit to Stanley, we also visited Highfield Farm , their are lots of photos of the house and it was well worth the visit and we were able to see everything. We spend the whole day just wandering the coast and on the way back to the house we headed into visit the Guide Falls
