MURPHY'S CREEK

Picture
Murphy's Creek Escape, (originally known as Murphy's Creek Camping Park), was carved from vagrant vegetation that existed on a 50 acre block on the banks of Murphy's Creek in the 1980's.

Murphy's Creek Camping Park operated for some 15 years before being closed by it's original owners. Peter and Lisa Souter purchased the property in late September 2009.

A year's worth of work resulted in the creation of a beautifully grassed, creek front camp ground and a growing clientel.

Fourteen days after our first anniversary, a very large flood hit South East Queensland. It inundated Murphy's Creek Escape resulting in the creek line camp ground being washed away and the road and culvert leading to the property also disappeared.

Closed for three months only to eventually open the doors to the most amazing response from the public. Volunteers and helpers came from everywhere to lend a hand as we again carved out the 'Escape' from a very rough canvas.

Today, we have a magnificent camp ground and some of the most amazing customers to have ever frequented a camp ground. The park is maturing every day with our facilities expanding all of the time.

Please come and enjoy the many natural attributes of Murphy's Creek Escape and forget about the hustle and bustle of the world. Our home is your oasis!

Great area for low level rock climbing for kids and big boys too, this is just near the swimming hole.

The creek is a good place for kids to play and build dams to try and stop the water flowing
Only 1 ½ hours from Brisbane and 20 minutes from Toowoomba based at the foot of the Toowoomba range, this camping oasis is the ideal spot to relax, unwind and escape the worries of the world.  Take your time to explore the area, hike into the Lockyer National Park, take a dip in the spring fed creek, BBQ or picnic, relax under the trees with a book, cook a damper and spin a yarn around your own camp fire, or simply enjoy a beverage on the lush banks of Murphys Creek.
Follow the Cobb & Co tourist signs to Murphy's Creek Road and turn at our Blue Tourist Drive signs to Thomas Road.

Waking tracks evertwhere
Picture
This is the road in as you have a short distance on dirt to get there and a railway bridge which has a low and high side so full vans just watch which you use or may lose the air conditioner off roof.

Our site, out in front about 100mt. it drops down into the creek and water ways.

This is down in front of our camp, not a place to walk about at night if you don't have torch with you
Picture
The camping area is a large area and plenty more room around and has toilets and showers and camp kitchens etc. within the park and they will for a price deliver a fire pit and wood for you.

The cabins are set hig up of the hill away from the main camp areas and are very nice inside too.
