THE ROAD TO MT. FIELD NATIONAL PARK.
When we left our base the sky was blue and it was looking to be a warm day but as we headed up the valley it changed and the fog rolled in, but we have been here long enough now to understand it will change again in a short time.
As we headed out we stopped and took shoots of the changing colours the trees and leaves are going though as the weather is moving towards winter.
The day as we moved up towards Mt Field he weather got slowly better and once we reached the Park it was blue skies for a few hours.

So many places and great places to stop and take photos and you would never get to where you were going, am glad we have the time to look at so many beautiful places and we have returned to some areas a few times as you just cant see it all in one visit.
They look after the area and you can see were they spend the money you pay as part of your entrance fees, so best to get a year or 6 month pass will work out cheaper as there are many parks here I Tasmania.
RUSSELL FALLS
I have taken many shots here and some are here in the slide show, we were lucky that after the snow last week the water fall was running well and gave us such a show, there were lots of people about so it was hard to get some shots.

THE STAIRS OF HELL
To get to the next water falls it was a long walk up and up over 200 steps to the Horseshoe falls and it is steep and the long steps made from rocks is not that easy till you reach the new timber walkways, then it becomes a little easy.
Now once you each the top we were told by a another couple we cold have driven up and parks not 5 min from falls with a nice easy walk down the falls.

HORSESHOE FALLS
These are a smaller falls and yet are special in their own way. I could see them running much faster in wet rainy days with a huge area behind them the amount of water would be stunning, the creek fro here runs down into the Russell Falls.

THE ROAD TO THE SNOW
From Hobart: drive to the Mt Field National Park via New Norfolk, once you enter the park drive past the Visitor Centre, the road turns into the Dobson Highway (dirt road) and winds up the mountain to it’s termination at Lake Dobson, the trip takes approx. 30 mins. From the Lake Dobson car park walk to the ski field via either the Urquart walking track or the Jeep trail, this takes approx. 30-45 mins.
Something we did not expect to see as it has not snowed since the week before and I guess the cooler weather for most of the week has kept it still here, I did learn that its cold when it gets into your shoes and your socks get wet. It was a nice warm day with little wind.
LAKE DOBSON
Climbing nearly 1000 metres in around 15kms, this route takes you from the visitors centre at the entrance of Mt Field National Park to the car park at Lake Dobson. Although entirely on a gravel road that is open to traffic, the amount of logs trees in the water gives it a strange look and we did see fish swimming about as the water is so clear
Looking into the water and seeing the timber it looks like a forest laying flat it is a great look, then you see a few fish swim past and with no wind the water seems to just not be there.
