Cawarral Farm Visit

Cawarral Farm Stay

Picture

We have been lucky in that our first house sit was for a couple of people who we have now called our friends.

They took us into their family without question and we were treated very well, Ellen and Michelle were good together they worked the farm together and went shopping and coffee trips and seem to be friends forever, not just, in past few weeks but it was like they had known each other for years.

It was a good time, in that we had some issues with the van but Rockhampton had the people and gear we required to fix those problems without too much trouble.
We had a run of hot weather in the beginning and then cyclone Debra showed up and we were lucky that the coast was a little way off and we only got the winds and rain that really worried us for two days and we had over 960 mm of rain and winds over 55km. Per hour, but the van and awning all stayed where they should and we only had a little trouble when the wind swung around and came from the west and the shade awning were pulled off during the strong winds that pulled the pegs out as the ground was so wet they did not hold .

So, overall, we had a great time and the days went by very quick, we went out and explored the area and got things done about the farm, so if at any time, you need a place that feels like home when out travelling around the central coast look up these people they are people who will be there for you.

To give you an idea how they are towards their Nomads, the day after we left they got in some cracker dust and levelled the area our van was because we had it jacked up near 8 inches to level it out and now they have that whole area level so the outdoor area is level as per a van park, plus a 15amp plug so you can plug in without any worries to mains power.

And we got to see the changing face of the farm as it went from so dry and dead  grass to a lush green fields after some two weeks of rain and storms. If you are in the area and looking for a farm stay as they have two areas they can fit in the retired and traveling for a little work doing some gardening at your pace.

While we have been here staying at Michelle and johns we have helped out most day I have been showing them how to setup van and johns been buying stuff so they can start their vanning holidays.

Have also pointed him to buy a 5.6lt Nissan patrol wagon for towing and it is a monster, great for towing.

They now have sat T.V. and most things to setup a good camp, today we have setup the annex and put walls et. On so they could see how it was done.

Other than that Ellen helps with the chooks and visits the fellow next door who shows her how to polish stones.

We have enjoyed our time here and will return sometime in the future I am sure, but we have a house sit in Atherton which we need to be at by the 22nd April.
So do consider this a place to visit when you need somewhere in this area

The first video I took just after we got here
